The end of ITIL v3

Since the origin of ITIL, there have been several updates to reflect changing circumstances and business requirements. In this way ITIL v3, launched in 2007, was updated in 2011 and in February 2019 ITIL 4 was released. Currently, both the Foundation module and all higher modules have been released.

That’s why some time ago Axelos announced the discontinuation of ITIL v3. Since July 1st 2021 it is no longer possible to start with one of the e-learnings from the ITIL v3 certification scheme. The exams for the Intermediate modules can still be taken until December 31st 2021.

Service Management professionals who obtained the ITIL v3 Expert certificate or collected at least 17 credits from v3 can still take the exam for the ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition module until 30 June 2022. With this ‘bridge’ they can obtain the certificate of ITIL 4 Managing Professional with only one exam. This module is available as e-learning and classroom training.
